Neha's sparkling performance

The Nrityaranjani Fine Arts Academy (Kandivli) presented the debut Bharata Natyam recital of Neha Joseph, disciple of Guru Revathi Srinivasraghavan at the Thakur Engineering College auditorium in Kandivli (E). Neha's performance was marked with considerable command over technique and 'abhinaya', with clarity and precision of movements.

Slim and trim Neha is blessed with the intrinsic quality of becoming a fine exponent, as was evident with her performance of eight items from the repertoire, commencing with the traditional invocatory numbers and concluding with the intricate Dvijawanti Thillana. Besides the elaborate 'Varnam', the pleasant surprise of the evening was the number on Lord Jesus, as classical dance is predominated by Hindu mythology.

In the item "Mahisasuramardini", Neha succeeded in projecting the benevolent and the virile aspect of the goddess, being the slayer of the demon Mahisasura. Gifted with large expressive eyes, Neha can really do wonders in the field of dance. If Neha continues to dance with the same amount of zeal and passion, she can scale great heights.

Neha recieved fine orchestral support from Guru Revathi on nattuvangam, vocals by Sreedev Rajagopalan, mridangam by Satish Krishnamuarthy, violin by Narayana Parthasarathy, flute by Sanjay, percussion by Vijay Dravid and moorsing by Narayan. A sparkling dancer indeed!
