Celebrating ‘Pancham’ with Asha Bhosle
A grand live orchestra ‘Love You Pancham’ compered by music-savvy RJ Anmol Sood, was convened by Nitin Shankar on Saturday night, to celebrate the 80th birth anniversary of legendary composer-singer R D Burman (Pancham-Da) at the Shanmukhananda Hall. While the guest of honour was mega-star-singer Asha Bhosle, also spotted were Anup Jalota, and composer Lalit Pandit, Chintu Bhosle, Sudesh Bhosle, Srinivas and Kishore Bhanushali. “We have applied to the Government authorities that ‘late’ R D Burman be ‘posthumously’ conferred the prestigious ‘Padma’ civilian honour,” announced Nitin Shankar in the presence of special guest State Cabinet Minister Ashish Shelar. “Besides our musical mission, we also raise charity funds for musicians in distress,” said Nitin to senior film-journalist Chaitanya Padukone.

Javed Ali, Shreya Ghoshal sing Marathi songs

Even Asha-tai has also sung a song in this film. Therefore, I am very excited about 'What's Love' and this movie will be a great Musical hit and get huge success, said Javed Ali. Otherwise concerts impresario Hemant Kumar Mahale makes his debut as producer-director in movies.  
 
‘Smile Please’ says Shah Rukh Khan
Vikram Phadnis’s directorial 'Smile Please', is based on this positive and optimistic approach. The trailer of the film, which features Mukta Barve, Prasad Oak and Lalit Prabhakar in prominent roles, was recently released at the hands of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh also launched the music album of the film amidst a splendid performance from music composers Rohan-Rohan and their team. Shah Rukh Khan said, "My friendship with Vikram goes back a long way. I told him one day to make a comedy film. He told me that this particular film was very close to his heart and that he had an emotional connect with the story."

Starring - Subodh Bhave, Pooja Sawant, Neha Mahajan, Pooja Bisht, Madhav Deochakke, Devendra Choughule, Gaurish Shipurkar, Sushant Shelar, Manasi Kulkarni, Krutika Tulaskar, Lalit Sawant, Dipti Dhotre The film is written & directed by Amol Shetge.

Even after four decades of his passing away, the mesmerizing appeal of the songs composed by the celebrated music director, Madan Mohan (1924-1975), still continues to enchant the music lovers. The event will showcase an exclusive screening of a 80 min audio visual, A Journey through his timeless music, comprising anecdotes and tributes by distinguished personalities like Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Manna Dey, Yash Chopra, Shivkumar Sharma, Zakir Hussain, Gulzar, Khayyam, Jaidev, R.D. Burman, Jagjit Singh and many others. Experimental Theatre, NCPA Sunday, July 7, 5.30 p.m.
