Culture-fest at Asiatic Library
“Mumbai Sanskriti” 2019, a two day festival will be organised on January 12-13 on the steps of Town Hall, popularly known as the Asiatic Library, in South Mumbai. Day one will witness duet dance by kuchipudi sisters -Yamini and Bhavana Reddy and day two will have a unique Mohan Veena recital along with Rajasthani folk elements by Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt.

Guru Thakur sings for ‘Krutant’
Lyricist Guru Thakur who has shot to fame with his mellifluous songs, not only in India but also abroad, has has sung playback songs in Marathi film “Krutant”, produced by Miiheer-bhai Shah. The music for the song “Thamb Kinchit Thamb”, has been scored by Vijay Gawande. Writer- Director Datta Bhandare is confident about his path breaking film ‘Krutant”. The film seeks tries to strike a semblance between the fast paced digital world and morality. Sandeep Kulkarni, Suyog Gorhe, Vidya Karanjikar, Sayali Patil and Vaishnvi Patwardhan are in important roles.

‘College Diary’ music launch
The music of the Marathi film “College Diary”, slated to be released all over Maharashtra on February 16, was held at the Citylight Cinema in Mumbai in the presence of the singer Benny Dayal, music directors Niranjan Pedgaonkar and Daniel, Suhith, Smith, Revaa and others. The highlight of the film is that for the first time, a film has songs in Hindi, English, Marathi, Sanskrit and Tamil with singers like Shaan, Shalmali Kholgade, Anandi Joshi, Niranjan Pedgaonkar, Piyush Mishra and Benny Dayal providing playback. Revaa, a Tamil Iyer girl who did not know a word of Marathi, composed the Marathi song “He Mann Maza” which has been sung by Shalmali Kholgade. “Korangu Pattu” in Tamil has been sung by Benny Dayal, who is a Malayali. The story of the film revolves round a college campus where politics plays a vital role in making the students go astray. It is about how the students give a fitting reply to their adversaries and come out winners in their battle against injustice.

Annup Sonni in suspense-thriller play
The Films and Theatre Society is all set to launch on 12th January, the new play “Ballygunge 1990- Love is an endless mystery” a suspense thriller Hindi play in after successful runs of their plays like Chakravyuh, Draupadi and Raavan Ki Ramayan. Director Atul Satya Koushik now comes up with yet another original play for his audience; this time a spectacular suspense thriller play in Hindi “Ballygunge 1990 ' featuring lead actors Annup Sonii and Nishtha Paliwal Tomar. Enthused popular TV and film actor and 'Crime Patrol' narrator Annup, "After 9 years I will be acting in a new production after a long gap. There are two dynamic characters, one is handling the situation and the other is reacting to it. if there is a new situation to react to every 10 minutes, how differently and realistically one can do that is challenging," smiled Annup Sonii.

Marathi comedy play “Hote Kurup Vede”
Director Rajesh Deshpande is bringing back super comedy “Hote Kurup Vede” on the stage. The inaugural play will be staged at 3.30 pm on 11 January at Shivaji Mandir, Dadar.

While Deshpande is staging his 25th play, co-incidentally veteran actor Sanjay Narvekar is also celebrating his silver jubilee with this play. Nayan Jadhav, Bharat Savle, Shalaka Pawar, Nitin Jadhav, Minakshi Joshi, Kalpesh Baviskar are in important roles.

‘SurSagar’ – A rising star every month, presents talented young vocalist Anuja Zokarkar blessed with a melodious voice at Sri Shanmukhnanda Padma Ranga Chamber Music Hall, 2nd Floor, Sion, Mumbai on Friday, 11th January 2019, 7.30 pm. onwards. Entry is free for the concert on first come first basis.
