‘Guru’ Chhaya Sakhare honoured
Hindustani music vocalist, teacher and actress Chhaya Sakhare was presented with the Mayor's Best Teacher award on Teacher's Day at the Dinanath Natyagriha by Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar. Sakhare was awarded for her invaluable contribution in the field of education, social welfare and music at muncipal schools across Mumbai. She is the disciple of the veteran Dr Prabha Atre. The dignitaries present besides the Mayor included Education Minister, Ravinder Waiker, Mangesh Satamkar, Hemangii Varalikar, Harshali More, Sachin Padwal, Shrikant Shetye, Milin Sawant and Mahesh Palkar, among several others.

Cinematic celebration of 100 Real Heroes
The revered RSS Chief Mohanji Bhagwat specially attended the release of film-documentaries on 100 nationa heroes, ‘Personalities of India’ was directed by veteran actor-director Devendra Khandelwal. These films were in the making for the last 15 years. Lokarpann of ‘Personalities of India’ was a grand cultural success. These films depict the life of 100 historical ‘real hero’ personalities, who played a key role in India’s independence, culture and arts, among other fields. Hon’ble Bhagwat-ji applauded the diligent efforts of Devendra and assured him, full support. Minister Mukhtar-saab A Naqvi who wrote the scripts of these short films also spoke very well on the occasion

‘Hollywood dude’ Aditya M enters Marathi movies
With formal training in film-making in Hollywood, young  Aditya Mohite is now making a foray into Marathi movies. During his stay in Los Angeles  he produced many TV shows, plays and short films. Recently, he directed ‘Knead for Love’ —  based on the relationship of two brothers in French culture. ‘Knead for Love’ was honoured at various international film festivals dude Aditya says that “During my frequent travels I have met the characters of my films. As a director it is important to make  good films. Profit and loss comes much later”.

Sur aur saaz mehfil
The Shivaji Park Nagarik Sangh is to feature Pt Vishwanath Kanhere (solo harmonium) and vocal by Pt Kunal Ingle at its hall near the Shivaji statue, Shivaji Park, Dadar (W) on Saturday September 22 at 5.00 pm. Bhushan Parchure and Abhay Datar on tabla, with Niranjan Lele on the harmonium.
 
Vocal tribute to retro-legends
An NCPA tribute to the unforgettable voices of some of the most legendary powerhouse female vocalists of the era gone by — Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin. A journey through timeless ballads such as ‘Embraceable You’ and ‘I Never Loved a Man’ to foot-tapping swing tunes such as ‘Blue Skies’ and ‘Love for Sale’, by singer Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Rythem Bansal on keys, Takar Nabam on guitar, Sonic Shori on bass and Aditya Dutta on drums. Saturday, September 22, at 7.00 pm.
