Sumit to play Dr Lagu
Actor Sumit Raghavan will be playing the role of Dr Shriram Lagu in Marathi film 'Dr Kashinath Ghanekar', based on the illustrious career of noted stage personality Dr Kashinath Ganekar. The film's second look was recently released through social media. Dr Ghanekar had transformed the face of Marathi stage through his remarkable acting prowess, back in the day. The film seeks to take viewers on a nostalgic trip. A team of Viacom 18 devoted considerable time to look after intricacies to ensure that Sumit's face matches with that of Dr Shriram Lagu. On the occasion, director Abhijit Deshpande said, “We wanted to have a person who not only would resemble Dr Lagu, but the one who is aware of his patience, vocabulary, his life style, his behaviour in public place, on stage and in a green room.”

Sumit said that it was a dream to play a legend and he had blessings of Dr Lagu even before shooting began. “I thank Nikhil Sane and Deshpande for giving me this opportunity to present the realistic character of Dr Lagu.” The film directed by Deshpande is slated to be released on November 7. The film seeks to throw light on the life and times of Dr Ghanekar in sixties. Subodh Bhave is playing the role of Kashinath Ghanekar. Sonali Kulkarni is also in an important role.

Marital confusion comedy
Director Sandip Naware is bringing together top-class comedians Bharat Ganeshpure and Sagar Karande in Marathi film 'Jangadgutta'. 'Jangadgutta' is a colloquial word from Vidarbha. It means more confusion. Sagar is an eligible bachelor and yet confused when he has to face marriage situation.

'Suryachi Pille' new format-play
Noted playwright Vasant Kanetkar's famous Marathi play 'Suryachi Pille' will be staged in a new format on the occasion of the centenary of the Indravadan Sahniwas Ganeshotsav Mandal in Shivaji Park. The play seeks to bring forth the reality to the waylaid children of famous persons. Sunil Barve, Nandu Nimkar, Sachin Sathe, Mayuresh Athavale, Nilima Kanhere, Ashwini, Archana Joshi and Ashish Bapat will stage the play. Besides this, 'Indragan' – a program comprising multiple song-dances – will be staged. Sucheta Mahale Kore, Smruti Chitnis, Rhuta Sathe, Madhuri Lonkar and Shyam Ghatpande are doing their best. On the occasion, a special vocal tribute to the late Arun Date will also be organised.

Radhe Radhe, Rama Krishna
Umang Barnali Odissi by Ananya Parida and Rudraprasad Swain, students of Aruna Mohanty, will be presented at the Little Theatre, NCPA, on Wednesday September 5, 7.00 pm onwards. The evening will commence with the duo presenting an invocatory offering to Lord Rama, which will be followed by a pure dance item 'Barsa Barnali'. The third presentation of the evening will be an 'ashtapadi' from Gita Govinda, Yahi Madhav, in which Radha is betrayed by Lord Krishna. The last presentation is Prakriti Purusha, showcasing the harmony of the two and how they complement each other in every aspect of existence.

‘Home Sweet Home’
The heartwarming teaser of Marathi film 'Home Sweet Home' slated to be released in cinema houses on 28 September was recently released on social media. The film made by Frame Production Company Pvt Ltd and Swaroop Recreation & Media Pvt Ltd, seeks to present an amazing on screen chemistry of senior actor Mohan Joshi and Late Rima Lagoo in their dazzling performance. In the teaser, we get to see complex married relationship of 35 years. Both husband and wife's point of view is performed in beautiful song by Vaibhav Joshi in his own voice... 'Natyache Routine Checkup'. It is a melodious song displaying daily life problems and small but important issues like, talking to each other without hurting each others' feelings, controlling diet or simply teasing each other to keep the relationship alive. All these aspects are captured and presented in the song.

When a couple stays in the same house for 35 years, the opinion they have about the house, is also mentioned in the song.

At the end of the teaser, Prasad Oak, Vibhawari Deshpande and Hrushikesh Joshi are seen peeping through the door, creating curiousity about the film.
