Strings of saveraa with  Rahul Sharma
'Music of the valley ‘– Santoor by Rahul Sharma' – Morning concerts give us the opportunity to explore and experience morning ragas which are rare; not only to the musician but the audience too, which gets to connect and experience the divinity of morning ragas. Another special aspect of this concert is the natural acoustics of the Prithvi Theatre, which means that there will be no mics! It's perhaps the only concert where the listener can hear the santoor strings in their natural tone. A different and unique experience brought together by Pancham Nishad – Rahul Sharma. Sunday August 19, 7.30 am, at the Prithvi Theatre.

Hindi one-act play contest
Astitva, INT and Sathay College will be organising a one-act Hindi play contest in the open category at the Sathay College, Dixit Road, Vile Parle (E). A preliminary round will be held on October 2, followed by the final round on October 7. The entries should be submitted by September 30 on Details can be obtained from Ravi-jee Mishra (98210 44862). Similarly, one act play contests under the title 'Kalpana Ek Avishkar Anek' will be organised by Astitva. The participants will have to present the play based on the theme 'Jab Shahar Hamara Sota Hain', selected by noted playwright Piyush Mishra. The contest is open for all students, amateurs and professionals.

Nitin Desai's film-media academy
The popularity of the Bollywood Theme Park in Karjat is growing by leaps and bounds these days. Located in the premises of acclaimed art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai's ND Studios, the Bollywood Theme Park is being frequented by visitors regularly. Now, to add to it, the Film & Media Academy too is being planned at the park. The decision was announced during a press conference on Desai's birthday recently, with top dignitaries present. The Film & Media Academy will be set up at Nitin Desai's filmy premises in association with the Hiranandani Institute Of Learning. To be called First Cut, the academy will be a hub for youngsters who want to make a career in the film industry.

‘Lathe Joshi’ enters foreign film-fest
Don Studios' Marathi film 'Lathe Joshi' – based on the obsession of a worker towards lathe machine used for fabrication and other important engineering jobs – will be part of 58th Asia Pacific Film Festival. The film has already been shown in over 20 film festivals held in different countries, including Russia and Taiwan. Sensitively made by Amol Kagne and Laxman Kagne, this film is off-beat since it is an altogether different film made on the passion of a worker in recent times. Chitaranjan Giri, Ashwini Giri, Om Bhutkar and others star in important roles.

Poster launch of ‘Love Guru’
A poster of Marathi film 'Love Guru', directed by Raja Karle and slated to be released all over Maharashtra on October 5, was recently launched in Mumbai. The film presents veteran comedy king Ashok Saraf in a different role. The film by Shailendra Parekh, Swapnil Chavan and Atul is a uniquely hilarious film.

‘Patil’ poster launched
The story of the struggles of a tenacious youth is releasing on the October 26. Marathi films are well-known for their unique stories and intent. One such story is presented by a forthcoming Marathi film 'Patil'. Prior to that, the poster of the film was unveiled by eminent producer-director-actor Sachin Pilgaonkar at a grand function. Shrikant Bhartiya, Om Prakash Shetye (Chief Minister's officer on special duty), Imtiaz Hussain (writer of the films 'Parinda' and 'Vastav'), Hemant Patil (MLA), Director Shivaji Lotan Patil and eminent personalities from various fields were present. The director, expressing his gratitude for the support, said that the film 'Patil' will be very inspirational and at the same time teach one to stick to ones values.
