Tribute to classical icon Kishori Amonkar
Sophisticated in thought and expression, Kishori became an icon for purists.  Her music continues to command a large following among music connoisseurs. Homage to this legendary icon will be paid by the loving family members through a musical programme and very rare photos exhibition titled ‘Gaanasaraswati in Retrospect’ which will be held at Rangaswar, 4th floor, Y. B. Chavan Pratishthan, Nariman Point on April 4, at 6 p.m. The photo exhibit of rare photos will later shift to Jehangir Art Gallery from  April 5 to 10 between 11 a.m to 7.00 p.m.  There will be a vocal recital by Kishori’s grand-daughter Tejashree Amonkar and an Odissi dance performance by daughter in law Bharati Amonkar as a tribute to Kishori.

Loksangeet mehfil
Madhuban Charitable Trust will feature famous folk singers Shailesh Srivastava and Haridev Chaturvedi in a special programme at the Babulnath Prempuri Ashram Hall on Saturday April 7@ 4.30 pm in the evening. Entry is FREE
Ragdari and Bhavgeet concert
'Samvad Jyeshth Nagarik Sangh' will celebrate its annual day by hosting a special programme on the topic 'Ragdari and Marathi Bhavgeet' by the well-known classical singer and writer Pt Amarendra Dhaneshwar. This will be a listening session with actual raga demonstrations by Pt Dhaneshwar who will be accompanied on the sarangi by Sandeep Mishra and on the tabla by Dhanashri Nageshkar Wagh. at Amarhind Mandal, near Portugese Church, Dadar W. The programme will begin @ 10 am and will go on till 1pm. Entry is free.

Amazing dance item by slum kids
In the popular Zee TV Yuva (Marathi) popular dance show 'Dance Maharashtra Dance', it was heartening to note that the slum children of Sambhaji Nagar, Kandivli (E), studying in the municipal school, have passed through the golden round and reached the top 10 slot. Due to the hard work of the children and the support and guidance of classical vocalist and music teacher Chaya Sakhare, the children performed the Adivasi folk dance with a lot of enthusiasm and sincerity.

Raveena Tandon honours ‘achievers’
'Achievers' doing commendable work in diverse fields including education, culture, social work, aviation, health, sports, defence services, police force, P.R media and entertainment, were felicitated recently at a function, convened by a cine trade magazine. On the occasion awards were given away by actress Raveena Tandon. The awardees included: India’ first individual aircraft maker Capt Amol Shivaji Yadav,  J & K’s first woman police officer Shahida Parveen Ganguly, a social worker devoted to service of cancer patients and  as part of the programme, a mark of respect was shown to the Maratha Light Infantry (MLI) of the Army, on completion of 250 years.

Inter-communal ‘aashiqui’
Marathi feature film 'Lagna Mubarak', a love story is slated to release all over Maharashtra on May 11.  Due to communal dispute, there is a twist in the beautiful journey of love of a young couple. But they  ultimately find eternal love. The film is directed by Chetan Chawda, who has also written the screenplay. Noted director Sanjay Jadhav is making his debut as an actor. Prarthna Behere, Sanskruti Balgude, Astad Kale, Siddhant Mule, Pravin Tarade, Milind Dastane, Ramesh P, Devendra G, Vandana Vaknis are playing important roles.
