Sangeet Sammelan
The 41st Gunidas Sangeet Sammelan will present performances by doyens of Hindustani Classical Music like Flute Legend Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Ace Vocalist Ustad Rashid Khan, Santoor Maestro Pandit Satish Vyas as also other leading artistes including Vocalists Jayateerth Mevundi and Shashwati Mandal, Saylee Talwalkar Sarod Player Amaan Ali Bangash, Sitar Player Shubhendra at the 3-day 41st Gunidas Sangeet Sammelan starting from November 30 at Nehru Centre, Worli.

Natya Parishad polls
The process of election of the Akhil Bharatiya Natya Parishad, was expected to begin either on November 20 or December 5, 2017. The President of the Parishad was elected unanimously for the last 4 years, but it is for the first time an election is being held on polling booths. Parishad Secretary Deepak Karanjikar said, “There are 65 branches of the Parishad in Maharashtra. Gurunathbhau Dalvi will be an election officer. The people who are active in the field for two years will be made members and they will also be allowed to contest.”

‘Ghaat’ ready for release
The new Marathi film 'Ghaat' based on the life of two boys Manya and Pappya, deprived of their childhood, is slated to be release on December 15, all across Maharashtra. The film is directed by Raj Gorde and produced by Sachin Jare. Yash Kulkarni is essaying the role of Manya, while Dattatraya Dharme has played the character of Pappya. Mitali Jagtap, Umesh Jagtap and Riya Gawali are in the lead roles. The film depicts about how people residing near pilgrim spots badly depend upon the “Ghaat” (a place at the edge of a river/lake)

Dhingana due for release
'Dhingana' (ruckus), an entertaining Marathi film will release in cinema houses on December 8, 2017. Based on the topic of phaswa-phaswi chit funds, the film has been shot in Mumbai, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Kolhapur. Directed by Chandrakant Dudhgaonkar, the movie is full of entertainment. It features Marathi/Hindi artists and also has a linguistic song in Hindi, Marathi and English languages. Its star cast include: Priyadarshan Jadhav, Prajakata Hanamghar, Anshuman Vichare, Swapnil Rajshekhar and Bollywood actors Razaa Murad, Avatar Gill, Shahbaaz-miyan Khan and Kunika.

Laavni dance concert
“Ishkachi Bijali Kadadali” a laavni program written and conceptulised by a project-affected farmer Sahebrao L Gole, will be staged on December 4 at Damodar Hall, Parel, at 4 PM. Sandesh-bhau Patil has handled the choreography. Akanksha Kadam, Mrinal Savardekar, Bhakti Mistry and Ambika Pujari are participating in different dance sequences. A journey through bhajans, ballads and other forms, made Gole-bhau realize that even laavni can be presented in a decent way. Thus struck the idea of “Ishkachi Bijali Kadadali” for which he conceptulised and written the script after a thorough study.

Violin jugalbandi
'Raykar Academy of Violin' and 'Indradhanush' to present a violin duet by Milind Raikar and his pupil Yadnesh in open space of Ravindra Natya Mandir,Prabhadevi on Sunday, December 3, at 6 am. It will be followed by vocal recital by Vidushi Ashwini Bhide Deshpande. Tabla accompaniment by Vishwanath and harmonium by Seema in memory of the late Achyut Raikar. Admission will be Free.
