Classic play sequel!
Another sequel of the hit Marathi play ‘Goshta tashi Gamtichi’ is on the cards. An announcement to this effect was made recently, during the 400th show of the play, screened at Gadkari Rangayatan in Thane. Many dignitaries including –  N. Chandra, Aadesh Bandekar, Anant Jog, Bhau Kadam, Sagar Karande – graced the occasion. This popular play starring Mangesh Kadam and Leena Bhagwat received a very good response from Marathi drama lovers, as the subject of this play dealt with a father-son dispute, over selection of a suitable career for the son. Now, in the sequel the same dispute is carried forward, but in a more dramatic manner. Well-known Advaitjee Dadarkar will continue as a director of the sequel as well. Producer Nandu Kadam will also be producing the sequel, while Mihir Rajda will expand on the story.

Javed Ali sings for Marathi film
Playback singer Javed Ali recently recorded a song for upcoming Marathi film ‘Ek Vanchit’ under music direction of Vishal Borkar. The song 'Ujadala Dis Jasa' describes how one advances like the birds go about with their routine chores after dawn. The song has been penned by film director Ravisuman himself. As the title goes ‘Ek Vanchit’ depicts the story of a deprived man whose family struggles to meet the day-to-day challenges life puts forth. Javed says the song is soul-touching and plays an important role in taking the screenplay forward. The film is centered around the character “Deoba” and his family, Rajendra Dhumal and Vinaya Talekar have essayed important roles.

Vocal treat
Udayan presents vocal recital by Pundit Shubhanker Dey from Banaras – Shilpayan: TheMusicHub, accompanied by Pundit Kishore M on Tabla and Pundit Pannalal Vabu on the Harmonium at the Hall of Harmony, Nehru Centre, Discovery of India Section, Worli. Saturday October 28 at 6:30 pm.

Award for ADC dance critic
The Shri Shankarrao Jagtap Probhodini (Saatara) institution has selected veteran Guruji Vijaya Shanker for the Maharashtra Bhushan Award for his outstanding contribution in the field of classical dance journalism. Since 1980 the agile veteran-critic has been actively involved in classical dance reviews and since 1986 he has also been performing live dances and giving demo-lectures regularly for various top organisations all over India. The award will be presented on October 25 at 5:00 pm at the Sachivalaya Gymkhana. Other award winners include actress Smita Jaykar, poetess and journalist Dr Ushaben Gujarati. The award is given to personalities in various fields by Dr Asha Jagtap on behalf of the organisation.

Rinki Rajguri in Makarand’s film !
The charming Rinki Rajguru of 'Sairat'-fame will be seen in her second film with Makrand Mane of ‘Ringan’-fame. Both are National Award Winners in the same year. The title of the film is under wraps. The producers of the film are Sudhir Kolte and Vikas Hande. The film will go on floors shortly.

Saveray sureelay strings attached
The 89th Pratahswar – morning raga series with Rahul Sharma – the sound of 100 strings on Santoor will be held at Kala Prangan, Maharashtra Kala Academy, Ravindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi, on October 29 at 6:30 am (at dawn). This is a non-ticketed free concert and open to all.
