Nritya ranjani Fine Arts Academy presented the two days dance festival 'Kala Samarpanam' at Veer Savarkar auditorium. It was interesting to watch the sincerity of the performances in varied dance styles.

The elegant Manipuri dance performances by Padmashri DarshanaJhaveri, Latasana Devi and Group with drummer Brojen Singh. It was a visual delight to the audience to watch such senior dancers perform traditional Manipuri and Raas Leela. Darshana along with Latasana Devi performed  Ashtapadi – YahiMadhava. This was followed by a solo performance by BrojenSinghji which mesmerized the audience.

This was followed by Bharatanatyam recital by Revathi Srinivasraghavan. She began the performance with an Allaripu in Tisra Dhruva talam interspersed with a tirrupugazh in 11 aksharas. This was followed by 'Bana Chale Ram Raghu rai,'  a saint Tulasidas composition in hindustanitodi. Revathi beautifully portrayed the 'Viraha Bhava' depicting the tense situation at Ayodhya when Ram Sita and Lakshman prepare to leave for the Vanawas. Kausalya's anguish and cries of the people of Ayodhya, who were lamenting the fourteen year exile of their king Ram. Her expressions of sorrow as the grief stricken Dasaratha or the sorrow of people of Ayodhya , were heartrending and left the audience moist eyed. Her concluding presentation was a thillana in Sindhubhairavi followed by a jugalbandi. The intricate rhythmi patterns of the thillana were precisely executed creating a fine impact.

Both Allaripu and Tillana with jugalbandi were compositions of Satish Krishnamurthy.

Concluding performance for the day was by Kathak danseuse Pooja Pant. The second day of the festival featured Bharata Natyam by Pavitra Bhat, Kuchipudi by Anupama Mohan and group, and Mohiniattam by Sudha Peetambaram. While Pavitra revealed his stylistic quality and intensity, Sudha performed with grace and poise and Anupama revealed her maturity in the performance. On the whole, it was a festival of varied styles.
