The word "gati" hails from "pragati" which means progress and development, hence in order to celebrate the 14th year of successful existence of Bharata College of Fine Arts and Culture, a programme of Bharata Natyam and Kathak was presented at the mini P.L Deshpande auditorium.

Bharata College of Fine Arts and Culture is headed by renowned Bharata Natyam exponent Dr. Sandhya Purecha. The Gati festival also signifies the speed in which young dancers have progressed as classical dancers. Selected items from Bharata Natyam repertoire like Jatiswaram, Sabdam, Varnam, Padam "Kalai Thuki" and the Hindolam Thillana were performed by the dancers. Besides the execution of the perfect technique with clarity of movements and footwork, the dancers also revealed their command over expressional dancing.

The padam "Kalai Thuki" demonstrated as to how the cosmic dance of Lord Shiva was performed, as he danced balancing one foot. The Thillana exposed the complex and intricate rhythmic patterns, blending well with stylized movements. The senior dancers of the college included Chitra Dalvi, Suhani Dhanki and Pushkara Deochake.

The Kathak performance included the dispaly of rhythmic and complex footwork which takes several years to master, the dancers performed teen taal, rupak taal, Raas and the Hori that symbolises the dance of unity and joy performed by Lord Krishna, Gopis and Radha.

The dancers recieved orchestral support on mridangam by Shaktidharan, Satish Seshadiri on violin and vocal and nattuvangam by Rajendra Naidu who is also in the teaching faculty of of the college. A fine performance by the dancers from Bharata College.
