The otherwise trendy, vivacious yet culture conscious actress-danseuse Smita Gondkar who celebrated Gudi Padva recently, will also be observing Ramnavami today. Known for her riveting roles in a dozen Marathi movies, ‘bold and beautiful’ Smita was recently honoured with the coveted award of Best Actress for the feature film ‘Mr. & Mrs. Unwanted’ at the prestigious ALTFF 2017 - Alternative Film Festival Spring 2017 at Toronto, Canada. She is among the select few Marathi actresses to merit such international acclaim. Film fraternity colleagues are complimenting her for the pride and honour that she has achieved for Maharashtrian culture and the Marathi film industry.
The shapely Smita who has become a sensuous sensation with her ‘hot’ music videos ‘Mann Kyun Behka' and ‘Pappi De Parula’ said, “It’s a euphoric feeling. But being a team effort I need to thank the entire crew and the film director Dinesh Anant. But most importantly, I am humbled that it has been acknowledged that I have made Marathi cinema prominent internationally. And this feeling is my ‘real award’ along with the ALTFF accolade.” The ambitious Smita, who is a dare-devil stunt-biker as well, is now being approached for Hindi movie lead roles.
