Taking a dig at Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, senior Congress leader and former Agriculture Minister Balasaheb Thorat yesterday categorically stated that the Vikhe Patils have betrayed the Congress at a crucial time. Vikhe Patil should clarify his stand on his son joining the BJP – arch rival of the Congress.

Speaking to reporters, Thorat lambasted his senior party colleague and leader of the opposition in the state Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil. He said, “The Vikhe Patil family has been associated with the Congress for the last five decades and the party has treated its members very well. Congress party has completed all the expectations of  Vikhe Patils. Congress has given everything to this one family.”

On Tuesday, Sujay – son of Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil joined the BJP in presence of the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. During this function, Fadnavis reportedly said that he will suggest the BJP leadership to field Sujay Vikhe Patil, a neurosurgeon by profession, from the Ahmednagar Lok Sabha seat. This development has put the state Congress in the huddle.

Against this backdrop, Thorat has asked Vikhe Patil to make his stand clear over his son's decision of joining BJP. He also expressed confidence that the Congress-NCP alliance will win Ahmednagar as well the adjoining Shirdi Lok Sabha seat in the next month's election.

Significantly, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil is yet to publicly react to his son's entry into the BJP.
