The Panvel police have arrested the supervisor of Belhekar & Tyres Co from Pune in connection with a tyre theft case. The accused, identified as Mukesh Chavhan (30) is a resident of Panvel, Navi Mumbai. According to the police, company owner Sopan Belhekar had filed a complaint against the supervisor for stealing four tyres worth Rs. 70.000.

Senior Police Inspector Vinod Chavhan of Panvel police station said, “We immediately sprung into action after the case was registered and formed a team to conduct investigations under Police Sub Inspector (PSI) Sunil Tarmale and Constables Ravinder Raut, Vijay Ayere, Shaikh, Phoolkar, Dhule and Thakur. The team traced the suspect from his residence in Khanda Colony based on the information they had collected. The team did an incredible job as they arrested the suspect on the same day that the complaint had been filed and also recovered two tyres and Rs. 35,000 cash from Chinchpada, Panvel. Chavan has confessed to the crime and we are now investigating  further.

PSI Tarmale said, “We have registered a case under Section 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust) on the Indian Penal Code and the accused is in police custody. Further investigations are on.”
