The Tilak Nagar Police arrested a Colaba resident on Aug 9 for illegally carrying revolvers and one live cartridge. Shankar Mahesh Jadav, alias Tiwari (38), was roaming on GM Link Road in a suspicious manner when he was spotted by cops on patrol.

"Patrol officers on Thursday night spotted a man who ran after seeing them. They chased him down, searched and arrested him,” said Sub Inspector Amol Ambawne of Tilak Nagar Police Station.

The accused worked at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) railway station. Police are now investigating where Jadav purchased the revolver from and are trying to ascertain his motives.

The threat of terror attacks in Mumbai has resulted in the Crime branch of Mumbai Police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad pooling in resources to carry out raids across the city and take appropriate action. Their efforts paid off with the arrest of three persons carrying explosives as well.
