A 60-year-old man died after the wall of an under construction building in Chembur came crashing down around 4.00 pm on Tuesday. The deceased Nana Maruti Kamble – a retired ward boy from TB Hospital in Sewri – was severely injured as he was passing by. Locals rushed him to a private hospital where he was undergoing treatment but he succumbed to his injuries around 5.00 pm yesterday. Kamble was a resident of Shahdip Colony in Chembur where he lived with his family.

According to police, the construction work near Ambedkar Nagar in Chembur was being carried out by a builder under SRA and landfill work had been started recently for laying the structure's foundation. Around 4.00 pm on Tuesday, the wall collapsed an an adjacent slum shanty. While the shanty was empty at the time, Kamble, who was passing by, got severely injured.

Police have sent his body to Rajawadi Hospital for a post mortem and are awaiting the reports.
