Launching a counter offensive following Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJPs) Lok Sabha MP Dr. Kirit Somaiya asking Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray to declare his property details, Sena Lok Sabha MP Rahul Shewale dared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make public the wealth accumulated by BJP national president Amit Shah and other top BJP leaders. In a counter move state BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari while releasing Shah's 2012 Gujarat assembly election affidavit remarked that the BJP was forthwith complying with the Sena's demand. Meanwhile, Somaiya in a statement released yesterday stated that he has disclosed his property details and wanted to know as to why the Sena president was not doing so.
Earlier in the day, Sena MP while speaking to newspersons at Sena Bhavan, Dadar dared the BJP which is in power in State and at the Centre, if it had the guts, to probe the wealth of Sena president Uddhav Thackeray. “I say this with responsibility that there is no bogus company or any unaccounted property with the Thackeray family. Amit Shah and BJP's national leadership should declare their own wealth details. The BJP is making unsubstantiated allegations of corruption against Thackeray family and other Sena leaders. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis should speak with proof and not say anything thinking he can get away with it. By making such allegations the Chief Minister seems to have accepted defeat.”
Referring to the BJP's Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) election manifesto, Shewale alleged that the BJP has copied Sena's Vachan Nama. He said that the BJP has appropriated the works done by the Sena in BMC and tried to pass it off as works done by it (BJP). Shewale also labeled Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis as one of the most hapless and ignorant Chief Minister in recent history. He stated the Chief Minister himself is unaware of his own powers and administration. Somaiya meanwhile while disclosing details of his wealth, wanted to know why the Sena president was not disclosing his assets. “Is he afraid of his (Uddhav) connection with seven shell companies involved in money laundering?” asked Somaiya.
Countering Shewale's allegations, while speaking to newspersons at Mumbai BJP headquarters at Dadar, Bhandari remarked, “It seems as though the Sena has forgotten that BJP national president Amit Shah's 2012 Gujarat assembly election affidavit is already in the public domain. Nonetheless we (BJP) are once again releasing his (Shah) election affidavit to fulfill their demand. In respect of probing the Thackeray family's wealth, the BJP has not spoken in the language as Sena has done. They should not force us to do it as well.”
The latest round of bitter acrimonious war of words between the ruling saffron allies comes in the wake of the Chief Minister daring Thackeray to disclose his (Thackeray) wealth and alleged that Sena is getting rich in the name of fighting for cause of Marathi Manoos.
