Now, get 'billed' at Kurla!

You will now be able to get a printed bill for every purchase at Kurla and Matunga station eateries. Also, the payments can now be made via Paytm digital wallet. So the next time you are craving a 'vada pav' but don't have enough change, just head to the eatery anyway!

“The step will empower commuters against being cheated. The facility will be extended to all suburban stations soon,” said Sanjay Kumar Jain, Divisional Railway Manager, Central Railway.

The name of the eatery, the platform number on which it is situated and the time of the purchase will be clearly mentioned on the bill.

However, would it be a nuisance for the passengers due to time and paper wastage? Railway Activist Subhash Harishchandra Gupta feels that it is a small price to pay. “This step will make it easier for the passengers to not only fight back in case of overpricing but also in filing complaints if the quality of products, especially the non-packaged ones like 'vada pav' is not up to the mark.”

“It is a good move,” he said, adding that the railway authorities should increase vigilance to prevent such cases. “Overall it a good move but it should be properly monitored, complaints should be addressed and defaulters should be fined heavily. Otherwise, this is of not much use,” he said.

The Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) and Kalyan railway station may soon get the billing system installed at the eateries there.
