NCP chief Sharad Pawar who had earlier announced that he will not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, is in the mood to change his decision. Yesterday Pawar made it clear that some of his party colleagues are insisting that he should contest Lok Sabha election  from Madha constituency.

While speaking to reporters, after chairing a party meeting to take an overview of constituencies ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, the former Union Minister pointed out that, “I have no desire to contest the election, but after their insistence I have assured them that I will think about their demand.”

When asked about the speculation that he may contest from Madha again, Pawar, currently a Rajya Sabha member, said, “During the meeting, some senior party leaders and the sitting MP from Madha Vijaysingh Mohite Patil insisted that I should contest election from Madha. I have not taken any decision so far and I have no desire to contest the election, but some party leaders clearly said that the way they obey my policy decisions, I too should respect their decision. Of course, I will now think  about it.”

It may be recalled that after representing Madha in the Lok Sabha polls from 2009 to 2014, Pawar had said that he will not contest Lok Sabha elections anymore.

Meanwhile, according to sources, out of 48 seats in the state, NCP is likely to contest  25. NCP chief's daughter Supriya Sule will continue to contest from Baramati, where she is a sitting member. The  names of top NCP leaders including Chhagan Bhujbal, Sunil Tatkare, Bhaskar Jadhav, Dilip Valse-Patil and Dr. Satish Patil are also under consideration for 2019 polls.

I have no desire to contest the election, but after their insistence I have assured them that I will think about their demand
