Rs 11 crore spent on the viewing gallery project

The Pramod Nawalkar Viewing Gallery at Malabar Hill – one of the Brihanmumbai Mumnicipal Coporation's (BMC) ambitious projects – is all set for the visitors to have a bird's eye view of Marine Drive, 285 feet high, from the 2000 sq ft area of the viewing gallery.

The visitors will able see the picturesque view through binoculars. In the four-storeyed structure, The Hydraulic Department has constructed a water control room on the ground floor while the second and third floors will be vacant for visitors to get a bird's eye view of the entire Marine Drive area.

Prior to this development, the water control room at Bhandup was the only one supplying water to the entire city.

A total of Rs 11 crore has been spent on the work of the viewing gallery project with facilities such as a lift, telescope, binoculars, water control room, a conference hall, garden, furniture, etc.

Meanwhile, there are as many as four inaugurations organised by the BMC for the opening. The opening ceremonies will be held at the Comprehensive Advanced Stroke Centre in KEM Hospital, the Pramod Nawalkar Viewing Gallery at Malabar Hill, the Cooperage Bandstand, and the Kothari Pyau opposite General Post Office (GPO) at Fort.

  • View from Girgaon to Nariman point will be visible
  • 50 visitors can be accommodated at one time
  • Around one and a half meter tempered glass sheets for safety
  • CCTV cameras to keep an eye on visitors
