Man 'terrorising' locals nabbed by Crime Branch

A 39-year-old man has been arrested by officials of Crime Branch Unit - X after cops laid a trap near the military area in MIDC locality in Andheri. The arrested accused has been known for terrorising local residents with his criminal activities in the area while his other two associates are named as 'wanted' in the case.

According to sources in the crime branch, the arrested accused have been identified as Vinod Asha Kale– he is a well-known face in the criminal world and has more than 11 cases of serious offences registered on him at various police stations across the city.

Recently, Powai police registered an FIR against Kale after he robbed money from security guards posted outside one of the garage in the locality and badly assaulted them. In this crime, his two accomplice were also involved in the crime.

After the FIR was registered, the crime branch officials began parallel investigations in the case and during the probe, they were informed about Kale 's location at MIDC. They immediately laid a trap and caught him while he was trying to board a bus to flee the city, sources said.

During the interrogation, it was also revealed to the crime branch that the accused has been many times externed from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane commissionarate. Attempt to murder, dacoity and other serious offence cases are also registered on his name including Arms Act.

After arrest, he was produced before the court which sent him to police custody, while hunt is on for his other two associates. Crime branch handed over accused Kale to Powai police for further investigations, sources added.
