The Palghar Police has launched a manhunt to nab two fraudsters who allegedly duped a 45-year-old a man of Rs 1 lakh on the pretext of a fake lottery of Rs 1.5 crore. According to police sources, the incident took place in the month of February. The victim Brijlal Sahadev Pal received a fraudulent SMS on his cell phone on February 1, 2017, claiming that he had won Rs 1.5 crore in the Maharashtra State Lottery (MSL) lucky draw. The fraudsters identified as Raju Chauhan and Ragu Prajapati asked Pal to send his personal information and bank details and later asked him to deposit Rs 1 lakh in a bank account for claiming the lottery amount. On February 15, when the MSL declared their results the complainant lodged a case against the accused duo as he discovered that he had not won a lottery, said a police official. Speaking to Afternoon D&C, M.P.Kolle, API, said, “We have launched a manhunt to arrest fraudster duo and have booked them under section 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal code. A detailed probe is underway."
