Man arrested for killing brother

A 20-year-old man was arrested for killing his 26-year-old brother, following a petty quarrel in their home in Dombivli on Sunday.

The accused has been identified as Suraj Kashinath Lashkar (19),  a Std. 12 student and resident of the Star Colony in Dombivli. Suraj was living with his mother and elder brother Nagesh, who was unemployed and an alcoholic. According to Police Inspector Vilash Shende of Dombivli Manpada police station, “Nagesh was always drunk. On the day of the incident, he came home in an inebriated state and had an argument with his mother and younger brother (Suraj). Suraj, in a fit of rage,  took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Nagesh 13 times in his abdomen and chest.” A case has been registered against Suraj at the Manpada police station under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. The police have arrested and produced him in court, which remanded him to police custody until today (September 13).

Following the incident, “Nagesh was taken to a private hospital where he was declared dead before arrival,” a police officer said.

Three arrested for killing friend
A 20-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was killed by three 'friends' over a petty dispute late Monday night.

Following to the incident, the police formed three teams yesterday to nab the three accused from different locations as they tried to flee the city.

The victim, identified as Santosh Jubelu (20), worked as an auto-rickshaw driver in Ulhasnagar. The three arrested accused have been identified as Kiran Madavkar (24), Ganesh Sunanke (33) and Laxman Sakpal (30). They are residents of Radheshyam Nagar in Ulhasnagar and also work as auto-rickshaw drivers. In his complaint to the police, Santosh's elder brother Kalpesh (23) alleged that on Monday evening, Santosh had an altercation with the main accused Kiran and his brother Aakash, over some old unresolved dispute. After the altercation, Kiran and two of his friends took Santosh to the Ashwini Dhaba located near Vasargaon in Ulhasnagar, where they gave him alcohol. They then took an inebriated Santosh into the bushes near the dhaba and killed him using stones.

Child specialist assaulted by bike-borne assailants
A Thane-based child specialist doctor was assaulted by two unknown bike-born assailants near the Yesraj Park in the Kasarwadavli area of Thane on Monday night.

The incident took place when Dr Prakash Darandale, closed down his clinic for the day and was heading towards his car to go home. Suddnely, two unknown men on a bike stopped beside him and assaulted him with a stick and cricket bat. They then fled  on a bike.

According to Sandeep Patil, Assistant Police Inspector, Kasareadavli police station, “Dr Prakash was admitted to Jupiter Hospital and is being treated for hand injuries. We are going through CCTV footage and will nab the two accused soon.”

Meanwhile, a case was registered against unknown persons, under Sections of 324 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
