Minister of Higher & Technical Education, Ravindra Waikar holds a meeting with Mumbai University officials. Seeks assurances on revaluation result declaration and no further goof ups from the varsity next time around

Mumbai University officials assured Minister of Higher & Technical Education Ravindra Waikar of a speedy declaration of revaluation results as well as rectifications of flaws seen with the On-screen marking (OSM) system when the examinations are held next time around. Waikar held a meeting with the University officials yesterday.

A statement to the press said, "Assurances that the results of re-evaluation of the other courses (besides law which has been in the headlines of late) will be announced before the beginning of the syllabus by the varsity."

The Bombay High Court, last week passed an order, directing the University to declare all the revaluation results before Saturday, November 18. There are, however, 27,748 answer-books still to be re-evaluated. Semester examinations are scheduled to start on November 20.

Yuva Sena's office bearers informed that zero marks were given to many students due to misplacement of answer-sheets.

Waikar instructed that these students be allowed to see the average marks given to them by looking at the points obtained in other subjects.

The University also decided to not give supplements to the students and instead give a 40 page answer-book during examinations. However, instructions were given to officials to make sure students be given added supplements in order to complete all their answers in the examinations.

Lastly, Waikar seeked assurances from University officials that all results will be declared within 45 days of completion of the examinations and the eradication of any technical errors in the software or otherwise that led to the delay of all results this year.

Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University Dr. Devanand Shinde, Pr-Vice Chancellor Dr. Vishnu Magre and Registrar Dinesh Kamble, along with the Youth Congress's Pradip Sawant, Mahadev Jagtap, Shashikant Jhore and Rajan Shelar were present at the meeting yesterday.
