Four prominent literary personalities will be felicitated by the Priyadarshni Academy with a trophy and Rs.25,000 each for their exemplary work in Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati and Sindhi languages on the occasion of its 28th Anniversary Literary Awards. The award ceremony, to take place at Walchand Hirachand Hall in the Indian Merchants’ Chamber, will be held on February 29.
Noted satirist and columnist Yagya Sharma will be conferred with Kisharam Lekhraj Rupani Memorial Hindi Literary Award for excellent work in Hindi language. He is known for his column, ‘Khali Peeli’ which is published in leading newspaper for the last two decades. Nanda Khare who has authored several Marathi publications will be awarded the Geeta Israni Memorial Marathi Literary Award for exemplary work in Marathi Language.
The Laxmi Nari Pohani Sindhi Literary Award will be conferred on Laxman Bhatia for his contribution to Sindhi language. Kundan Vyas, a journalist since 1961 will be conferred with Chandaben Mohanbhai Patel Academy Gujarati Literary Award for his contribution to Gujarati language. He is the Chief of News bureau of Janmabhoomi group of newspapers.
The academy will also award 200 scholarships to students from various fields such as Engineering, IT, Medicine, Education and Architecture.
