Two Standard VII students found performing stunts on an escalator on Platform 2 & 3 at Byculla railway station were counselled by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel deployed at the  station on Tuesday. According to the officials, they had bunked school and so after the counselling session, they were handed over to the school authorities, who appreciated the cops' efforts.

“The kids were using the escalator from the wrong direction and were even trying to get up the railing as a stunt,” said Rakesh Kumar, Inspector In-Charge, Byculla RPF, adding that in such cases, Sections of the Railway Act are violated and the officials are told to take the route of counselling when dealing with underage kids.

There are many instances of kids taking random trains from the station and even creating ruckus at times in the area. These kids are often in groups and are wearing uniforms. “Generally we call their parents and it helps us in tackling the issue for the time,” said Kumar, adding the case of performing stunts on the escalator was a one-off incident and hasn't been reported before at the station.

The kids were spotted by on-duty MSF (Maharashtra Security Force) personnel, who then informed the Senior Inspector, RPF, Deepak Duhan about it. It was he who enquired about the kids and found that they were students at a nearby school. He explained to them how they were doing something very wrong and later contacted their teachers and principal, who took them back to school.
