The Kalyan Eparchy Youth (KEY) in association with the Humanitarian Welfare and Research Foundation (HWARF), had organised an awareness programme and fund-aid for the bereaved families of farmers on Sunday, at Andheri.

Impressed by the initiative taken by KEY and HWARF, well-known actor Aanjjan Srivastav, actress Ragini Khanna and Sambhavna Seth were present at this event. World-renowned Violinist and Grammy award winner, Manoj George and other recognised musicians performed live to support this cause. Kalyan Eparchy Youth (KEY) in joint association with the Humanitarian Welfare and Research Foundation, a non-government organisation registered under Mumbai trust in 2010.

This year, the aim of KEY is to support families of the farmers who had to take away their own lives due to the cruelty of nature in the Vidharbha region of Maharashtra. The stress, pain and grief that these families are going through, are unbearable, but they have stood strong together and have been fighting all odds. As a salute to these heroes whose hands feed the nation,  KEY with the support of the whole community are raising funds so as to ensure a better life for the farmers.

KEY conducts social events every year. ‘Water for Marathwada’ was one of the key events, last year wherein a water collection drive was conducted by the Youth in collaboration with the Western Region Social Service Forum (WRSSF). For this event, all the youth helped in collecting water under the leadership of the Youth Director, Fr. George Vattamattam for the drought-hit Marathwada region to which lakhs of litres of drinking water was supplied.

With each passing year,  KEY has been organising events aimed at developing the personality of the youth and transforming them into holistic individuals capable of serving the church and in turn, society. Cultural events like Talentia and Enthuzia are some of the prominent events which the KEY has been conducting for several years.
