A-25-year old Badlapur-based local scribe has been externed for one year from Thane, Mumbai, and Raigad district. Police officials said three FIRs and eight NCs have been registered against him over the past 2-3 years. The Badlapur (W) police passed the order under guidance of DCP Ankit Goel from Ulhasnagar, yesterday.

The accused has been identified as Mahesh Jagannath Kamat (25), a resident of Badlapur who is running his own local newspaper in the city.

Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Agarkar said, “We had to extern him because he had terrorised and tried to extort money from businessmen in city. In March and May 2017, two cases had been registered against him under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code. One of the cases pertained to a sweetmeat merchant while the second involved a call center employee. He also had a case of robbery and one case for kidnapping registered against him at the Badlapur (E) police station”.

“We have been processing the paper work for externing him since the last three months. The order was passed by DCP Ankit Goel yesterday, he added”.
