International drug racket busted by Amboli police, four foreign nationals held with Rs 40 crore cocaine, more arrests likely

The Amboli police are doing  terrific work in their sustained drive against drugs, as they did an outstanding job again whilst arresting four foreign nationals with banned cocaine drugs worth around Rs 40 crore in their possession.

The incident came to light a day after the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had arrested a lady from Oshiwara with ephedrine drugs of around one kg in her possession which she due to deliver at one of the rave parties. This seizure of the Amboli police  is the highest one of this year.

According to Additional Commissioner to Police (West Region) Manoj Kumar Sharma, ''Four foreign nationals including a lady has been arrested. The arrested include Niras Azhubik Okhowo (35), Sayman Agobata (32), Michel Sande Hope (29) who are trio of Nigerian nationals while arrested lady Carle Pinto Ayris is a Brazil national.''

Former encounter specialist and Police Inspector (PI) attached to Amboli police station, Daya Nayak got a tip that few foreign nationals were likely to deliver the drugs near the Maurya Landmark II building situated at Maurya Estate road in Andheri (West), on that basis a special team was formed which reached the spot.

After waiting patiently for hours, when all drug peddlers reached the spot they were taken into custody on the spot as cops found drugs in their possession, all the arrested foreign nationals were taken to their residence and in the course of their house search police were shocked when they found cocaine concealed in curtains in a well-disguised manner.

Large number of curtains with more than six kgs drugs concealed in them and other material were seized from their residence. It is the biggest seizure in the last six months and other arrests would  take place in due course, sources added.

During the search of their belongings, with police found a court receipt of Rs 80,000 which shows accused recently came out on cash bail, while arrested lady was in Byculla jail for committing similar crime and had also come out from jail two months ago. All the arrested accused were booked under relevant sections of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and were produced before the court and sent into Police custody for seven days, sources said.

ON THE DRUG TRAIL
In the second week of January, Amboli ANC officials busted an international drugs cartel and seized six crore worth pure quality of cocaine from two foreign nationals who landed in front of an high school at Sizer Road Junction in Amboli.

On December 31, 2018 Amboli police seized 20 kg ephedrine drugs worth over Rs 3 crore from Jogeshwari (E), which was brought to the city from Hyderabad. Police arrested two history sheeters earlier in 2013 in Hyderabad in possession of the same drug.

In February last year Amboli police  unearthed an international connection to the city’s drug racket. Police arrested two people after they recovered 13.4 kg of mephedrone, commonly known as 'meow meow', valued at Rs 2.68 crore, from them.
