The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) declared the ICSE/ISC results yesterday afternoon. The overall pass percentage for Class 10 stood at 98.5 per cent, while 96.12 per cent passed in Class 12, with girls having outperformed boys this year, according to officials.

These claims were backed by statistics as 10 out of the 15 toppers in 10th standard ICSE exams were girls, with the statistics in their favour for ISC exams too.

The all-India examinations that took place in February and March earlier this year had toppers from all over the country including Mumbai. The city’s Swayam Das, from St. Mary’s ICSE, Khoparkhairne, was the Class 10 all-India topper with a score of 99.4 per cent. His father expressed his happiness saying, “It still hasn’t sunk in that my son has topped the all-India rankings. However, it is a satisfying and proud moment for me as all his hard work has paid off. This was way beyond our expectations and all I can say to other parents is to not put their children under immense pressure to perform and allow them to blossom on their own”.

Seven students have topped the Class 12 exam with an identical score of 99.5 per cent.

Revati Bharat Shitole, a student of Smt Sulochanadevi Singhania School, Thane, who stood third in India in the 12th standard ISC exams said, “I could not contain my emotions and was crying when I saw the results. I really was not expecting to rank third in India but it’s a great feeling”. When asked what advice she would give to next year's students, 17-year-old Shitole added, “They must just get the basics right and study consistently throughout the year. I did not take tuitions for any subject but just paid attention in class and listened to my teachers and would like to express my appreciation towards them. All the wishes have been pouring in and I am extremely happy. But honestly, I still cannot believe how well I have done”.
