Drawing on the success of the second edition of the Vaikunth Flower Show at Piramal Vaikunth, Piramal Realty is extending the community initiative till January 15, giving visitors across Mumbai the opportunity to catch over one million flowers in bloom. In addition to over 22-themed gardens, the Vaikunth Flower Show also features a host of attractions such as ‘The Little Sultan’ and ‘The Little Badshah’ – toy trains that commemorate the first passenger journey from Victoria Terminus to Thane, and 5,000 ‘Happiness’ Lanterns, painted by differently-abled children.

KABEER @ BHAVANS, CHOWPATTY
This musical mono act play depicts the life story of great reformist, poet and philosopher “Kabeer”. 600 years ago, this legendary saint challenged deep rooted social evils ailing the society. With 45 song sequences, the two hour play unfolds making of this revolutionary social reformer, which truly reflects the influence of great saints like Guru Ramanand, Raidas, Sheikh Fareed on Kabeer. The audience rediscovers Kabeer's message of love and peace and religious harmony, shedding religious hatred. “Kabeer” has been conceived, written, composed, directed and acted by Shekhar Sen.

STORIES IN A SONG @ PRITHVI THEATRE, JUHU
Accounts of music-making in India, and stories of the struggles and hardships faced by musicians both real and imaginary lay the foundation for a collage of dramatised episodes that blend theatre, music and literature. Several forms of theatre in India make evident use of music but Stories in a Song takes the help of theatre to tell stories of musical forms such as Kajri, Thumri-Dadra, Khayal, re-mixes, and more.

MELTING POT @ GALLERY BEYOND
Head down to the Gallery Beyond art gallery at Fort, and take a look at the exhibition that marks similarities and differences in their perspectives, while highlighting the hybrid nature of their practices. The imagery is visibly transnational, tracing lineages, exploring roots, and morphing disparate histories through visual narrative. References to stereotypes, and significant engagement with the self and the other in varied environments, feature as central motifs, as do nuanced allusions to India as a nation. The compilation of work symbolically carries forward the theme; individually, and jointly, the five artist’s paintings represent notions of absorbing, adopting and alternately cultural influences that have framed their respective life experiences.

Watch Raat Na Aaye (Based on O’Neil’s Long Days Journey Into Night), a story of a family, which is devastated by its own memories, and past. The truth of life is, we canot forget, even if we think we have put our past behind. Yashpal Singh Sahney, is a legendary  actor,  who was once a star of Indian theatre, and his role in television, has given him all possible name, fame and money, and ruined his acting career after that. The play talks about the hypocrisy in family bonds, and true love between the family members.
