Flooring tiles crack at Kings Circle station

A report by an online portal surfaced yesterday morning scared people about the safety of Kings Circle Station's Platform No 1, where Andheri-bound Harbour Line trains halt. Though at first glance, the damage looks pretty severe, railway officials have said that the situation is not a safety concern as only the upper flooring of the platform has been affected.

“The flooring of about 8-metre stretch on the platform has been affected due to the the sliding of the mud near it as well as beneath it,” said a senior railway official. The restoration work of the platform has started and is likely to be completed by night, the official said, adding that commuters have nothing to fear.

To repair the damage, the restraining wall at the spot has been taken off along with the railing above it. The tiles too have been removed. If you were to look at the area, you would see a cordoned off section with titles sticking out of the mud.

In the worst case scenario, the debris and the railing could have fallen on the walkway behind the platform. However, the damage was contained in time.
