FIR against cops place dummy candidate to clear MPSC recruitment, No arrest

The Matunga police has registered an FIR against the Police Sub Inspector (PSI) attached to Maharashtra police after officials of Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) found he uses dummy candidate to clear the exam.

Recruitment of bureaucrats who clear the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examination using dummy candidates for filling crucial vacancies in the state secretariat is once again in light after this complaint. It is alleged that PSI Rahul Fadtare who is the accused, cleared the examination in 2016 using forged examination documents. When suspected, the documents and answer sheets were sent for testing at the forensic laboratory in Pune where it was established that the recruitment was done illegally. The police had earlier made arrest in this connection and it is suspected to be a big racket, the police said.

According to the police, Fadtare appeared for the said examination in 2016 and he was allocated Ruia College in Matunga as his center and his seat number was 08122. Police sources claim that Phadtare first used a dummy candidate who wrote the exam on his behalf and further probe also revealed that the examination documents including the hall ticket used for the same was forged.

"After the name of the accused reflected in the case, we conducted a thorough inquiry into the same and all the related documents including the hall ticket, answer papers used for the fraud were sent to Pune forensic laboratory for examination. Signatures on the papers done my the dummy candidate were scrutinized after which a serious cognizance was given to the matter and on the orders of senior police officials of Maharashtra police, the FIR was registered in the matter last week," said a police officer.

A source said that the dummy candidate who appeared on behalf of Fadtare is too under the scrutiny and the CCTV footage at the time of examination is being examined for further investigation. "We have received a complaint but no arrests have been made. Further investigation of the matter is underway. A case has been registered under section 474, 471, 468, 467, 420, 410, 34, 198, 197, 193 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of the Examination Act," added the police officer.
