Dead dolphin found on Bhayandar creek shore

Thursday, September 13, 2018
By Suresh Golani

A dead dolphin  washed ashore the creek near Jesal Park chowpatty in Bhayandar (E) yesterday morning.

Local fishermen found the dolphin floating dead near the shore and pulled it out. According to Fire Brigade personnel, the dead mammal was seven feet long and weighed around 30 kg. It had sustained multiple injuries near its jaw and tail-fin.

Several incidents of dead dolphins being washed ashore at Vasai, Dadar and Juhu beaches have been reported in the recent past. The increasing frequency of dead dolphins washing ashore, has once again highlighted the need to check unabated sea pollution which is said to be the main reason for the deaths.
