Workers and office bearers of the BJP’s Mira Road unit are the new dancing sensation on the social media. Causing a major embarrassment to the party with a difference, a video clip showing the BJP activists gyrating to Bollywood numbers inside the party office was captured on a mobile phone, which is now being widely circulated on several social media platforms. The matter was reported from BJP’s Kanakia Mandal (division) office in the upscale Bhairav Residency complex in Mira Road, the video went viral on Wednesday.
After the cake cutting ceremony, the guests including male and female office bearers of the party stepped into their dancing shoes to rock and roll on classic romantic Bollywood numbers. Although senior BJP leaders maintained that it was only a routine birthday celebration of one of their colleagues, the event coincided with Valentine’s Day eve stoking further controversy. However, the video clip of the dance performances with the party’s banner in the background went viral on various social media platforms, sparking off a controversy with several social organizations and locals condemning the act by people who claim to be representatives of a party with a difference. In an attempt to minimize the damage, the local party leadership sought the resignations of eight people including that of Kanakia division chief.
“Celebrating birthdays of party members is a routine practice. Though this particular event was not vulgar, nor an act of indecency, such type of indiscipline will never be tolerated. The resignations will be sent to the higher-ups who will decide their fate,” confirmed, BJP MLA Narendra Mehta.
Partying With a Difference!
It may be recalled that another corporator of the BJP Anil Bhosale had invited sharp criticism, for his alleged involvement in facilitating a booze blast for party workers to celebrate Gatari in the premises of a municipal school in Kashimira last year. A video clip of frenzied party workers gyrating to the loud music of popular Marathi songs went viral on various social media platforms.
