The state government will set up a committee comprising ministers and representatives of the agitating farmers to monitor the implementation of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Shetkari Sanman Yojana. Making identical statements in both the houses of the state legislature yesterday, over assurances given by the government to the delegation of the Kisan Sabha, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that besides the crop loan, the loan waiver scheme shall also cover term loans up to Rs. 1.5 lakhs, covering farming, Emu rearing, shed-net and poly-houses.

Referring to the demand for diverting water flow of the westward flowing (Arabian Sea) Nar-Par, Damanganga, Wagh and Pinjal rivers into the Girna and Godavari river basins, he said that the project report has been sent to the National Water Development Agency. The draft of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be signed in this regard has been sent to the Center on September 22, 2017. As per the agreement, the waters allocated to Maharashtra from these rivers will be dammed and utilised, and the irrigation projects will be completed in a time bound manner.

Commenting upon the demand for implementation of the Swaminathan Commission report, Fadnavis stated that the matter will be pursued with the Center. Besides this, the Center has already announced giving one and half times more minimum assured price for farm produce. Referring to the demand for considering each individual family member as an independent applicant under the farm loan waiver, Fadnavis stated that the government will take a decision after considering the quantum of financial burden on each family member. On the demand for not acquiring farmers' lands for the Samruddhi Corridor, Bullet Train and other infrastructure projects, he said that the farm lands were being acquired with due consent of the farmers and as per the provisions of the various acts.
