Minister threatens to stop increments of Mahavitaran employees

The State Energy Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule threatened to stop three increments of the concerned Mahavitaran employees yesterday, if they fail to bring down transmission loss up to 5 per cent in Mahavitaran's Bhandup circle by next month.

Presiding over a review meeting of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (Mahavitaran), Bawankule took note of the fact that although there were only 24 lakh power consumers in Bhandup circle, the transmission loss was over 10 per cent and maximum transmission loss was recorded at the Thane, Kalwa and Mumbra areas.

“Wherever there is a transmission loss of 10 per cent, it should be brought down up to 5 per cent and the transmission loss up to 5 per cent, should be reduced to 3 per cent. If the employees fail to bring down the loss, then their three increments would be stopped,” he warned.

In Bhandup zone, out of 24 lakh consumers only 9.55 lakh consumers are connected by mobile app. As such by ensuing March, all the consumers should be connected by mobile app. Besides, pending connections be cleared within a month, he said that a Rs 500 crore scheme be prepared to carry out repairs to defective instruments.

The connections from a circle to division should be completed within a week. Also it should be explained why LPT or HPT connections are pending. Mahavitaran employees should keep their mobile GPS system on, he added.

The meeting took stock of pending schemes and noted that under the 'Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana', the works worth Rs 120 crore have been completed. Bawankule said that the concerned officers should ensure that the works are completed by ensuing March. If the funds allotted under the scheme remain unutilised, then the action would be taken against the concerned officers, he added.

Bawankule noted that as of now, 100 per cent work under the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) Part I have been completed. Whereas only 60 per cent works under IDPS part II have been completed. Incidentally, IDPS is implemented by the Union Power Ministry.
