While 'Hashtag' has become the most popular lingo of the present digital era, Mumbai's famous artist Rouble Nagi has immortalised the symbol in a sculpture to promote the eccentricity of Bandra.
The sculpture carved as #BANDRA, initiated by Poonam Mahajan, Member of Parliament from Mumbai North Central was inaugurated yesterday at Bandra Reclamation by the Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan.
#BANDRA has become the first ever hashtag sculpture in Maharashtra and is opposite the MTNL office at Bandra Reclamation. Artist Rouble Nagi said, “As an artist I feel that hashtag is really a movement and has been since a while now.
The hope is that the hashtag will inspire action and serve as a springboard that people can use to launch themselves from online conversation to real-world action. In a way, the hashtag becomes a symbol of empowerment. It creates an opportunity for sustained engagement and makes sure that governmental organisations know it and inspire further action. Hence #BANDRA.”
Mumbai's very own 'Bandraite' Shah Rukh Khan inaugurated the #Bandra sculpture adorning the trending flyover, which also shares space with the street painting of Dadasaheb Phalke at the back.
