In a rare instance highlighting their detection skills, the Bandra police nabbed gang of four robbers by tracking the alphabet ''B'' on their car. In the CCTV footage, the Bandra police could only identify the car model with the number plate not visible.  But, the light of a passing by car helped to identify the alphabet ''B'' which was plainly visible.  This vital breakthrough helped the cops to make further progress in this case, as they then  managed to nab the robbers from different parts of the country.

According to Bandra police sources, last month, a bunch of robbers broke into the Jansagh Tours and Travel office situated in Bandra, and within minutes decamped with  cash of around Rs six lakhs from the office.

Later, on owner's complaint, FIR was registered and immediately Bandra police swung into action and began scanning the links in a bid to crack the case. Going through the CCTV cameras installed outside the shop, police noticed that, they could not make out the number plate, but alphabet ''B'' was seen on the car. But the model of the car and its color was made out by the police.

After the robbery, the Bandra police  scanned CCTV cameras installed at Bandra Kala Nagar Junction, Dharavi junction and all possible spots including in Vashi Toll Naka. Luckily, Bandra police noticed in the Vashi Toll Naka CCTV camera, one white color Ritz Car passing from Vashi toll naka with the alphabet ''B'' plainly visible.

With the help of this CCTV footage, Bandra police got the number of the car and later they reached the owner's house and made the first arrest in the case.

The investigation revealed that, this car registered for UBER company, but accused removed the other alphabets from UBER  but kept only ''B'' because his father's name starts with ''B''.

Later, Bandra police nabbed four accused in this case  identified as Siraj Shaikh (40), Abdul (45), Ashu Seth (50) and Nasruddin. Accused Siraj was nabbed from Shahganj while other three accused were nabbed from different areas including Nagpada and Mumbra.

Officials from Bandra police said, all the accused was arrested recently and  are in Judicial Custody, two more accused are wanted in the case. Prime accused in the case Siraj Shaikh has around 40 cases to his name having been involved in similar crimes. In this case,  accused Ashu Seth was  the one who  did  the recce of the shop and was present at the time of robbery.
