The Ram Nagar Police on Sunday arrested a 25-year-old auto-rickshaw driver for allegedly kidnapping a 33-year-old woman traffic guard.
According to police sources, the incident took place in Dombivli. The victim identified as Sunita Nandmehar was on traffic duty near Dombivli Railway Station and found the accused Ravi Gupta parking his auto in a no parking zone. When Nandemehar asked Gupta to remove his vehicle from no parking zone, he did not follow her orders and started an argument with her. Nandemehar later sat in Gupta's auto-rickshaw and asked him to take it to a local police station but instead of taking her to the police station the accused took her to an isolated place. When she raised an alarm he pushed her into a nullah and fled from the spot.
The victim then rushed to the police station and booked a case against Gupta. The accused has been booked under Sections 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 363 (Kidnapping) and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peach) of the Indian Penal code. Speaking to Afternoon D&C, Laxman Chavan, Assistant Police Inspector of Ramnagar police station said, "We laid a trap nearby his residence and later arrested him.”
