Assorted Shatabdi Express to run today

On June 10, Shatabdi Express was stuck in 400 mm water and at one point, the electricity supply had to be shut because of safety reasons

The Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express, an executive fast passenger train will run from today with a special rake. The original rake, which was upgraded under the Project Swarna was waterlogged earlier this week at Nallasopara, rendering it unsafe and unstable. The new rake will be   mix of 3 AC Chair Car Executive Class, 2 AC Chair Car, 1 Anubhuti Coach and 12 AC 3-Tier coaches in lieu of the usual chair cars.

“The waterlogged chair cars are being attended in the Coach Care Centre at Mumbai Central with the assistance from Lower Parel Workshop and will be reintroduced in service in a phased manner after thorough check for safety and passenger amenities,” said Ravinder Bhakar, Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway.

The passengers with reserved tickets will be messaged to bring them up to date with the situation and adequate number of senior officers and concerned staff will be available in the train to assist the passengers about their new seat numbers.
