
Private lender HDFC Bank yesterday launched IRA (Intelligent Robotic Assistant) a `humanoid', which will assist customers at the branches. The robot will be unveiled in the next 12 days at a local branch.
IRA was developed in association with Kochi-based Asimov Robotics. Nitin Chugh, Country Head, Digital Banking, HDFC Bank refused to share more details on the tasks the robot would carry out. He only said it will not replace jobs done by humans.
HDFC Bank yesterday also announced the launch of the 2nd edition of its Digital Innovation Summit. The Summit is a platform for start-ups to showcase their innovations aimed at powering the bank’s next phase of growth.
“The bank is specifically looking for solutions that can be used for rural operations, as a large part of its customer base is there,” said Chugh.
