State Govt. Reassures builders on GST and PWD Project Tenders Issues: Shinde

Builders and contractors in Maharashtra have been assured that the state government is seriously addressing various issues raised by them especially the matter of GST and PWD project tenders. At the same time, there are growing construction opportunities coming up in the state. This was stated by Eknath Shinde, Public Works Minister, and Government of Maharashtra. Addressing the gathering in Mumbai at the 'Indian Construction Industry Sarvottam Awards 2017' (for manufacturers and service providers) and the 'Indian Construction Industry Navratna Awards 2017' (for construction companies and individuals). The Award Presentation function was organised by Builders’ Association of India (BAI) is an apex all India body of Engineering Construction Contractors and Real Estate Companies with more than 16,000 business entities as members through its 153 plus Centers (Branches) throughout the country.

Shinde pointed out that the government was well aware of the difficulties encountered by the building and construction industry and would be working with it to resolve the problems and restore the industry's faith and trust in the government. Shinde was responding to the problems raised by Pradeep Nagawekar, Chairman, BAI Mumbai Centre, who in his speech highlighted the issue of GST ongoing government contracts and problems in PWD tender conditions.

Mahesh M. Mudda, Chairman, Organising Committee in his welcome speech said that these awards were instituted by the BAI in 2014 and are an appreciation of the efforts of individuals and companies in the Indian construction industry.
