KTI organizes 'Practical Skill Week' across branches

Monday, August 07, 2017

A month long activity, ‘Practical Skill Week’ launched by Kohinoor Technical Institute (KTI) on 15th July- World youth skill day, is receiving enormous response from its students across country.

Talking about the initiative, Sameer Joshi, CEO & Director – KTI and Chief Business & Alliances – Kohinoor Group said “Our courses focus on 70% practical training which ensures students’ industry readiness to engage in job immediately after completing the course. The Practical Week was launched to lay emphasis on this, during the Skill Carnival which is a weeklong activity starting from the 15th July on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day to take skills to each household.”

KTI’s main strength of 70% practical hands-on experience is given more focus in this activity. This is one of the key features of KTI’s program delivery. Students get more experience through practical learning which makes them prepared thoroughly in the industry.

Every week, KTI branch picks up 2 trades from the 13 trades under which courses are offered to our students.  Starting Monday to Thursday every week, the students will be given one topic each day for practical and practice. On Friday, students can spend time revising what they learnt the previous days and prepare for a presentation which they have to make to a team of judges. On Saturday, the students will present to the judges and other students in the branch. The evaluation would be done by the judges while other trade students can ask questions related to the project.

Makarand Vagaskar – COO KTI added that core technical skills, which are of utmost importance to the industry, have been identified for the practical skill week sessions. For example in the auto industry, dismantling and assembling the machine is a critical skill. Likewise we have selected skills for more than 10 Trades/ sectors which will help students to be industry ready.
