Ranveer's 'Khilji' role a haunting experience

Ever since the controversial ‘Padmaavat’, directed by ‘showman’ Sanjay Leela Bhansali was released, moviegoers have been happily haunted by the satanic ‘Allaudin Khilji' look of  Ranveer Singh and his spine-chilling performance. After the iconic ‘Gabbar Singh’ in the previous millennium, it’s now the turn of ‘Ranveer Singh’ to fill in the spot. Despite his ‘hate-worthy’ ayyaash screen-performance, female audiences seem to be besotted with Ranveer’s menacing persona, even as he craves to hijack gorgeous ‘Padmavati’ (Deepika Padukone) into his kingdom.

The modest Ranveer reacts with, “Well my make-up designer Preetisheel  and director Sanjay sir should be given credit for the look, really. I internalised some dark expressions and mannerisms and the whole vibe and energy of the character just followed as a result.”

The National Award-winning make-up, hair and prosthetic designer Preetisheel Singh reacts, “However mischievous and fun-loving Ranveer may come across in his movies and interactions in media, he is one of the most dedicated and highly professional  actors when it comes to work. He would imbibe the persona of ‘Khilji’, the moment we would begin the look transformation," says Preetisheel. "The make-up, hair and prosthetic would take several hours, and most of the time Ranveer would patiently stare at the mirror, completely immersed in the character. By the time his ‘look’ was done he would walk, talk and even behave like ‘Khilji’, much before he reached the camera field," she reveals.
