Love at first bite?

The analogy of the popular desi spiral sweet delicacy jalebi to a sticky romantic entanglement comes to life on celluloid this week from the vibrant palette of the iconic Mahesh Bhatt-Mukesh Bhatt camp.

The musical movie directed by Pushpdeep Bharadwaj, titled 'Jalebi' whose trending poster recently shot into mixed prominence with the heroine's 'upside-down' kiss to her hero from a train compartment window, is expected to gel well with today's gen-now audiences. With promising star-material actors (debutant dude) Varun Mitra and vivacious actress Rhea Chakraborty (former MTV-VJ) playing the leads, veteran film-maker Mahesh is enthused as he raves about their movie 'Jalebi'. “In this changing shifting world, where the old stories have collapsed and no new story has yet emerged to replace them, comes a story of everlasting love,” he says.

Reveals Rhea, “Mine is a frothy, frolic character of a spunky copy-writer and she is very upfront about her views when it comes to expressing her romantic overtures. There are the tricky twists and turns like in a 'jalebi'. Some of my intense spontaneous scenes in the teaser are being highly appreciated. Honestly, it was also thanks to the timely brain-storming from mentor Bhatt-saab while I performed those sensitive scenes,” smiles Rhea whose dream is to work someday with star-actor Ranbir Kapoor.
