Kaun banega Ayushmann K's lover-boy?

What makes star-singer-actor Ayushmann Khurrana starkingly different from other contemporary lead actors is that he is super-enthusiastic when it comes to portraying daringly different bohemian roles.

Whether it is in ‘Vicky Donor’ or ‘Dum Lagake Haisha’, the deceptively ‘blind’ piano-player in the recent mega-hit ‘Andhadhun’ or the maverick ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan’ (SMS), where he played the newly-married husband grappling with the crucial problem of ‘erectile dysfunction’.

Now ‘SMS’ is being turned into a franchise by eminent film-maker Aanand L. Rai (of ‘Tanu Weds Manu-Returns’ fame) with its sequel just launched called ‘Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhaan’. However, this sequel is being directed by noted writer Hitesh Kewalya.

Since Ayushmann has this penchant for touchy, taboo themes, this time the subject revolves around ‘homosexuality’. Undeterred by the sardonic trolls that the sequel may trigger off, producer Rai is rather chilled out when he shares that, “The sequel will have its moments of fun, light humour and will be handled with sensitivity”.

Currently Khurrana is shooting for this unusual movie ‘Dream Girl’, where he plays a dual character of a male and a female, and yet another film called ‘Bala’ produced by Dinesh Vijan. Incidentally, in ‘Bala’, where Ayushmann plays a young prematurely ‘balding’ dude he is co-starring with both his mascot heroines Yami Gautam and Bhumi Pednekar.

What remains to be seen now, is as to, which actor (yet to be cast) will play Khurrana’s ‘gay lover-boy’ in the ‘SMS’ sequel.
