In real-life, I restrain myself from falling in love: Kriti Kharbanda

'It’s much easier to cry than to convincingly burst out laughing on screen', insist seasoned Bollywood acting coaches like Kishore Namit Kapoor. In this  just-released rom-com ‘Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana’ starring acclaimed actor Rajkummar Rao, the romantic lead Kriti Kharbanda giggles heartily like a teenager and also sobs so spontaneously, that she endears herself to the audiences.

It may be recalled that her previous two Hindi movies ‘Raaz Reboot’ and Guest In London’ received unfavorable reviews. But with this movie’ Shaadi Mein…’, Kriti has put in a realistic performance under the (debut) direction of Ratnaa Sinha. Incidentally, Kriti who has starred in a string of Southside regional movies, was voted Bengaluru's “Most Desirable Woman" and also as “one of the hottest women” in India, a couple of years ago.

When quizzed about why she grabbed this Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana lead role, Kriti has her rationale. “Besides the fact that it’s a content-driven movie, dramatic twists, I was also looking forward to working with Rajkummar, who has always dared to act in unconventional diverse roles,” shrugs Kriti who in real-life has nursed a ‘broken-heart’ and now exercises restraint if she is emotionally drawn towards a guy.

Not surprisingly, Rajkummar too seems thrilled with his screen-character. “That’s because it has unpredictable dual contrast shades - froma lover-boy to a bridegroom who gets a ‘raw deal’ following which he grudgingly avenges the wrong done to him. Overall, it’s a heart-warming family entertainer that also shows how self-centred ziddi egos can be so shattering,” insisted the ‘Newton’ hero, who is speedily recovering from his left leg-ankle fracture injury.
