Today, as unassuming Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan completes 75 years, the entire Indian cinema industry and millions of his ardent fans, both local and global, will be wishing him good health, longevity and an active, adventurous life ahead. In Bollywood, the iconic name Amitabh Bachchan, symbolizes and signifies punctuality, discipline, professional versatility, dedication and an altruistic Samaritan attitude.

The on-screen and off-screen career of ‘Big B’, as he is fondly called, has  faced turbulent ups and downs. An exemplary icon of resurrection and resilience, he reached glorious heights despite heavy odds. A posed  picture which the 'Big B' had sent of yesteryears = the Filmfare-Madhuri Contest to join films  was rejected. Ironically, during his ‘struggle phase’  Amitabh was also being rejected due to his 'towering, lanky'  persona. Despite his bass, baritone voice, and flawless diction, the aspiring ‘announcer-broadcaster’ was not approved in all auditions at A I R (All India Radio) stations. The supremo actor had a ‘rebirth’ of sorts, after he had a near-fatal accident while shooting for an action sequence, for his film ‘Coolie’ (1983). When he was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital, it led to millions of his fans and admirers praying  fervently for his recovery. An actor par excellence, who with his ‘song-less’ characters in milestone movies ‘Anand’, ‘Namak Haram’, ‘Zanjeer’  and ‘Deewaar’ exploded the myth that every actor needs chartbusting songs to emerge a mega-star. “Don’t let disappointing dark nights demoralise you, as every gloomy night fades off and  gives rise to a new shining bright dawn’,” was Big B’s guiding mantra.

The exuberant ‘KBC’ TV quiz-prize-money show host, Amitabh has earned accolades from  ‘karodon fans’ for his zabardast zest, zeal and  ‘common-man-connect’
