Screenwriting workshop

Avid Learning and Juggernaut Books is presenting  a screenwriting workshop with noted screenwriter Mayank Tewari, in which he will elucidate the various techniques employed and explore the different characteristics of some of the best screenplays. Mayank was the screenwriter for the movie Newton, which was selected as India’s official entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards. He has also written the script for the upcoming film The Accidental Prime Minister  starring Anupam Kher.

This interactive workshop will also examine the importance of a screenplay and the crucial role it plays in the development process of filmmaking. Participants will learn how to transition stories and ideas from narrative fiction to screenplay and understand the various processes and formats of screenwriting.

Poetry Reading

Writer, painter  and medical practitioner Gieve Patel  will read from his book, Collected Poems which  brings together all three of his previous books of verse which are out of print, at  Jnanapravaha.  The book also contains his translations of the 17th century Gujarati  mystic poet Akho  and some new poems. A recipient of the  Rockefeller and Woodrow   Wilson  Fellowships,  Dr  Patel will engage in a discussion with poet and cultural theorist Ranjit Hoskote after the reading.
